Mr Chilese currently works for the Ministry of National Development Planning, as Assistant Director-Development Planning Social Sector. His job involves development of long-, medium- and short-term development plans and policies, exploring sustainable financing options, facilitating the development of equity-enhancing resource allocation criteria, coordination of global and regional development agendas such as Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Prior to his current post, he worked as Principal Planner for the Ministry of Health, where he was responsible for preparing budgets and plans for the health sector, monitoring and evaluation activities, participating in Joint Annual Review attending to Parliamentary queries and inquiries. He has also worked as a statistician for the Central Statistical Office and as a market analyst for MTN.
