Applications for the two year Master's degree in Development Policy and Practice are now open. The Master’s degree is a pioneering two-year part-time course, designed specifically for senior officials across Africa, focussing on strategic leadership for policy reform and implementation. Since the course is designed for professionals, participants do not need to reside in Cape Town, or even South Africa. The teaching involves a mixture of distance learning and intensive on-site tuition and mentoring during two two-week periods a year.
The Master’s programme offers students a multi-disciplinary degree with a balance of theoretical and practical skills. The core curriculum is drawn from the disciplines of economics, political science and public management and is designed to address the challenge of driving effective reforms or establishing new initiatives. Globally-recognised faculty drawn, amongst others, from the Kennedy School of Governance at Harvard and Johns Hopkins University, bring a rich combination of research and practical experience at senior levels of policy to the learning environment.
