Telana Halley

Telana Halley is an attorney with over eight years of experience having worked in both the private sector as well as public administration. Telana holds a BA LLB (Politics and Law) degree from Rhodes University as well as a LLM in Public Law from UCT. During her studies at Rhodes University Telana was elected as the 2005 SRC President and was deeply involved in student activism. Telana’s LLM dissertation considered the role of public participation in the achievement of efficiency in the public administration of democratic South Africa. Her research considered the importance of creating a culture of transparency and public participation in order to achieve lawful, reasonable and procedural fair administrative action. Currently, Telana is a State Law Advisor for the Western Cape Provincial Government, where her main area of focus is to provide legal advisory support to the Department of Human Settlements. Telana is set on continuing her goal to alleviate poverty through assisting government in fulfilling their constitutional duty toward its citizens.”
